Day 17- Jake's last full day in Siem Reap

Today was a fairly easy and welcome day after mostly busy and long ones. We got up at eight o’clock and boarded  the bus to the artisans silk farm, about 20 minutes away from Siem Reap. It was here we saw how they farmed silk worms and created various scarves, pillow cases, bags and clothes. We also saw where they grew mulberry bushes and kept the silk worms and their cocoons until they are ready to be made into rolls of silk. We then walked through a room full of people making silk products, busily working away at the old looms, which take one month just to prepare.
After the silk farm we had several hours for lunch which we spent lazing around the hotel and swimming (although Gareth spent his time getting a facial). In the afternoon we went to the Cultural Village, where we saw a traditional wedding ceremony. Brenton was lucky enough to be chosen to perform with the actors and played the part of the groom. He did a fantastic job! We also saw various other shows, which included acrobatics and traditional dancing.
Tonight we went to a buffet dinner and saw another traditional Aspara dance. Right now I am sitting on my bed in the hotel watching “Saving Private Ryan”. Tomorrow we leave on a very long plane flight and despite how great this trip has been, it will be a great relief to get home.
